Descriptive analysis of population characteristics of dogs and cats with suspected chronic renal insufficiency

Welcome to the website of the International Renal Interest Society (IRIS).

We hope you enjoy this site, which is designed to bring you news and information regarding the work of the IRIS group. The mission of IRIS is to help veterinary practitioners better diagnose, understand and treat kidney disease in cats and dogs.

In the IRIS Guidelines you will find the current IRIS Algorithm for Staging of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in dogs and cats,  and the IRIS Treatment Recommendations for each stage of CKD. We hope that these Guidelines will assist you in your day to day management of patients with CKD.

The Epidemiological Project is your opportunity to contribute to scientific research on CKD. By submitting cases of CKD that you see in practice, you are helping to build a database of clinical information that will be used by the IRIS group to improve our understanding of CKD.

In the Education section you will find articles by IRIS board members that provide additional information  on specific aspects of CKD.

Lastly, in About IRIS there is information about the members of IRIS, the projects that IRIS is supporting and the IRIS Award.
